...Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Ephesians 6:18
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:20-21
Whenever possible the four offices of the day shall be use ;
- The office of Morning Prayer before noon
- The Litany, or the penitential office, around noon
- The office of Evening Prayer in the evening
- The office of Compline
**The Noon day Prayer can be altered by the Abbot as he sees fit.
Because of our various locations and job responsibilities, it may not be possible for all Benedictines at all times to exercise their prayer schedule as needed. The prayer schedule is a human creation made for our purposes. While every attempt should be made to be faithful to it, it should not become a burden or a place where guilt should arise if our intention is delayed because of events outside of our control. Ultimately, what is important is that prayer happens and happens continually!The Book of Common Prayer 1928, The Anglican Breviary and The Authorized King James Bible should be carried if possible according to the above explanation.The propers for the day will be found in the lectionary located in the front of the Book of Common Prayer.
