Summons to Synod

To all the Clergy and Lay Delegates of the United Episcopal Church of North America;

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

In as much as it pleases Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to bless this United Episcopal Church of North America in its continuing efforts to provide the faithful a structure wherein they might rightly worship and duly serve the Most Holy Trinity;

We, Stephen by Divine permission, Archbishop-Presiding Bishop, Bishop Ordinary, do hereby issue this our Summons to the Synod-General Convention of the United Episcopal Church of North America to meet in the city of Coshocton, Ohio at St. Paul's Church, October 28-30 2008.

The Convention Synod consists of the Bishop with the Clergy and Delegates and Alternates of the Laity chosen by parish within this Church and See, for the enactment of such legislation as may, by God's Grace enhance the right ordering and well being of Christ's Church.

We do also call upon all the faithful of Our Church to fast and pray for the success of the Convention-Synod in order to humbly ask God's blessing upon its deliberations.

Done this 11th day of July 2008 at Statesville, North Carolina
and in the twelfth year of our consecration.

+Stephen C. Reber
Presiding Bishop-Archbishop
Bishop Ordinary

A Prayer for the Synod-General Convention

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who by thy Holy Spirit didst preside in the Council of the blessed Apostles, and hast promised, through thy Son Jesus Christ, to be with thy Church to the end of the world; We beseech thee to be with the Council of thy Church here assembled in thy Name and Presence. Save us from all error, ignorance, pride, and prejudice; and of thy great mercy vouchsafe, we beseech thee, so to direct, sanctify, and govern us in our work, by the mighty power of the Holy Ghost, that the comfortable Gospel of Christ may be truly preached, truly received, and truly followed, in all places, to the breaking down the kingdom of sin, Satan, and death; till at length the whole of thy dispersed sheep, being gathered into one fold, shall become partakers of everlasting life; through the merits and death of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

Parish Ownership Is a Must

The UECNA has recently received questions concerning our position on the ownership and control of parish buildings and property. In answer to these questions, Archbishop Reber has prepared a statement, which may be found on the Archbishop's Office page under the heading "Parish Ownership".

A Request from the Archbishop

"Even though the registration deadline is past for the upcoming General Convention; there are still a few more vacancies left. I encourage you to make your reservations quickly so that you will not miss this Convention. I also am requesting that each parish donate at least two items to be auctioned off after our Banquet during the General Convention on Wednesday, October 29th. At our last Synod in Huntsville in 2005, we raised over $900. Let's try to top that this year. I am suggesting that the funds be used for new growth this time. Fr. Jim McTaggert, St. Joseph's Anglican Church, Branson, MO, will serve as auctioneer."
